Patricia Ventura
artificial intelligence and communication

I work to understand what happens when technology transforms the way we communicate and to help people and organizations navigate these changes.
I work at the intersection of communication, artificial intelligence, innovation, and digital transformation. For years, I have been researching the role of human beings in the governance of technology and working to ensure AI is integrated into organizations in ways that are useful, responsible, and centered around people.
Since I was young, I have been fascinated by two things that, over time, have come to shape almost everything I do: communication and technology. I have also always been interested in art and spent several years practicing crafts. I believe this way of working still influences me today: I enjoy building projects by combining big-picture thinking, experimentation, attention to detail, and iteration.
I studied journalism because I wanted to understand the world and contribute to explaining it better. After graduating, I started working in digital communication and internet-related projects and, since then, I have developed almost my entire professional career around digital environments, new languages, and innovation.
I have participated in different digital transformation processes that have shaped the next steps in my career: helping develop new digital channels and narratives in media organizations, designing digital strategies for organizations, and researching artificial intelligence in communication before generative AI became mainstream.
I hold a PhD in Communication from the UAB and received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award for research focused on artificial intelligence, communication, and humanistic governance of technology. Since 2019, I have contributed to developing a scientific framework for the responsible adoption of AI in communication, which has led to several initiatives in applied research, public engagement, and sector-specific policies.
As a consultant, I work on projects related to AI adoption, digital transformation, communication, and innovation. I have collaborated with media organizations, institutions, and companies including 3Cat, RTVE, Prisa Media, and the Catalan Information Council, especially in initiatives related to technology adoption, strategy, communication, and organizational change.
I also teach, research, write, design digital projects, facilitate processes, support teams and, above all, try to build bridges between worlds that often still speak different languages.
I am interested in new media and exploring their languages, but I am even more interested in people. I enjoy face-to-face conversations, asking questions, and working on projects with positive social impact.
I am actively involved in social causes, especially those aimed at creating opportunities for people with fewer resources. I contribute to this purpose through communication, research, and public engagement around the political and social impact of technology and through advocating for a human-centered cultural leadership approach to technological innovation.
